James M. Linehan
Mr. Linehan is a fifth generation, lifelong native of Lancaster, Ohio. He was a merit scholar at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where he graduated in 1985, Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in both Marketing and Economics. In 1988, he graduated from The American University, Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C. with a Juris Doctorate.
Mr. Linehan served for five years as Fairfield County Juvenile Magistrate where he was instrumental in the creation of the current Domestic Relations division of the Common Pleas Court. Before his tenure in Juvenile Court, and since that time, he has maintained a private practice.
Mr. Linehan is a previous member of the Lancaster City Council having been elected as the representative of Lancaster’s Third Ward.
Mr. Linehan has served on many Community Boards. He is the Past President and current Vice President of the Lighthouse, Past President of the Human Services Board, and a Member of the Board of Directors for the Habitat for Humanity and Community Transition Center. Mr. Linehan has served as a legal professor for the Tri-County Professional College. His other community involvement's include local youth coaching in basketball, soccer, softball and tennis.
A current member of the Fairfield County Bar Association, Ohio Bar Association and the American Bar Association, he also holds a membership in the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Ohio Association of Trial Lawyers.
Mr. Linehan is admitted to practice law in all courts of Ohio, the Federal District Courts of Southern Ohio, and the Federal District Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit. His main practice area includes Criminal Defense, in which he has significant trial experience, Family Law, Adoption, Civil Litigation and Appeals, Personal Injury and Wrongful Deaths, Wills, Trusts and Estates Planning.
Mr. Linehan resides in Lancaster with his son Reilly.
